Yes.
Men are very, very visually stimulated.
He may say it doesn't bother him, and to a lesser degree, he's not being dishonest. He may love the person, not just the shell. But please remember, that, to a guy, the shell - the physical appearance - is important. 20 to 25 pounds, huh? Perhaps he says it doesn't bother him because, as long as it can be taken off, it's fine. I would think, however, that after 20 pounds, it appears the woman is on a new path/cycle and she's not likely to lose the weight easily. In fact, after 25 pounds, it's more likely that by June, if she does nothing different, she's likely to find that 25 pounds has turned into 50 or 65 pounds.
He will be lieing after a 60 pound difference. I'm sorry, but you should know.

It bothers us that they agonize over it and annoy the crap out of us about it. I promise you, most guys like an average size woman more than a pencil thin stick figure that lots of girls try to become. If the 20 to 25 lbs are in the right place, it's a plus.

I was going out with this woman from the Fillipines one time because she had the prettiest eyes! Well, she was as skinny as a popsicle stick, but I could tell by the shape of her hips that she had true potential. I made her stop eatin' Fillipino food and made her eat chit'lins and neck bones and hamhocks and collard greens and cornbread. Within a year that booty began sproutin' and them thighs started gettin' real big, jack! The more I fed her, the bigger her booty got and I loved it. She hated me and loved me for doin' that to her. The bigger her booty got, the more I loved her, the more she hated me, the more she loved me for lovin' her more!

Yes it does.
but only if you have very noticable weight gain.
Men in general are very visual in their sexuality. If A guy likes his girl skinny or just "not fat", then yes it makes us less attracted to the girl.
We tell you it doesn't bother us because we do not want to hurt your feelings or to have you very angry with us.

If it's recent, he's probably trying to be nice so you don't get depressed about it, while hoping that it can be lost.
After a while, the attraction will fade and he'll lose interest.

I think it all depends on the guy. If he is obsessed with your looks, then yep it sure does! But if he truly likes/loves you for who you are, then no it doesn't matter to them.
