I'm currently deciding on which OS I should buy and I've been hyped up for windows media center edition so badly. The only good it would do for me is connect to my xbox 360. Is there any other good uses of it? because that's all I'm thinking. Do you think I should just forget about it and get xp home? What is so special about it? Does it burn CD/DVDs better or something?

The Media Center Edition really only has a few things going for it.

1. It has an updated Windows scheme which is nice.

2. It has a built in Media Center which lets you play music, look at pictures, watch and record TV on your computer, and play movies. It's fairly nice, but not worth paying extra for.

3. It can connect to an XBOX 360.

I wouldn't suggest the Media Center Edition to anyone unless they are media collectors. I prefer Windows XP Pro myself.

Unless you want to do things like records TV to your computer and stuff like that then you don't need Media Centre Edition and, in fact, I'd advise avoiding it because the more bells and whistles shoved into your OS then the more stuff that can go wrong. Seriously, unless you really specifically *need* any of the Media Centre features just go with normal XP.
