It is more noticable because the media is focusing on it. There have been reports for years of the same things but once the media thinks it will make them money they will sensationalize every case they can find. The link I have provided shows the recalls for every year for food contamination.

It SEEMS like there is too many food poisonings this year because the press is making a big deal of it. However, every year there are hundreds more cases of the same poisonings that are not being reported - why? because they are from meat. Why is the press making a big deal of it? Well without going into all the political ins and outs, they are working towards getting all our foods irradiated. It isn't bad enough already, apparently.

I think that perhaps there is just better reporting that makes it seem like more than usual.

However, I read just yesterday that some illegal immigrants are sleeping in the fields to save on rent money. What would they do when they have to go to the bathroom and it is across the field? And we all know that some people, regardless of race, are too lazy to walk to the port-a-potty. Eww! I have sworn off Ca. produce and that from Mexico. Kinda skimpy pikin's but at least I haven't gotten sick. Yet.

I don't believe that there has been any more food poisonings then any other time in recent history. Maybe your just noticing it more since the media has been blowing it out of porportion.

These outbreaks have almost always been traced to California. Stay away from California produce, properly wash all of your produce and make sure you don't cross-contaminate foods in your kitchen.
