Hopefully the doc will give something strong. But Advil (ibuprofen) is the best for dental pain. But you have to take about 4 tabs about every 4-6 hrs. If he does give you painkillers such as vicodin, you can take the Advil along with that too. Good Luck.

Your doctor should prescribe write you a script for painkillers that are far beyond what you can get over the counter, but if your doctor is a complete asshole, and doesn't know how to do his job and you do need an otc painkiller, then go with Tylenol with Codeine.

The dentist will give you a prescription for codiene or vicodin. I don't think any OTC painkillers will work. At least for the 1st 2 day after extraction. Good Luck!!!!!

Take Advil (Ibuprofin). They give out prescriptions of 800 mg pills (taken 2 at a time) so check out the mg on the over the counter and do the math. Do NOT do this with any other kind of OTC pain medication (ESPECIALLY TYLENOL) as you may end up giving yourself permanent liver damage if not liver failure. The doctor will give you more information of what to take and a prescription on the day of your procedure.

If your dentist has already arranged an appointment for your wisdom teeth removal, he/she should have already prescribed you something for pain. Tylenol with codeine is the most common, but you should be able to get that OTC as long as its only a Tylenol #1. I am also having my wisdom teeth removed in the next week and Tylenol 3's are working wonders for me. Talk to your dentist!

Ask your doctor for a 3 day supply with a prescription. It will make a big difference. OTC products may not make you completely happy. He knows what is the best.

I were given 3 complete prescriptions, one for an antibiotic, one for Dexamethasone (its a steroid -- for inflammation, saved me from swelling up like a chipmunk), & the perfect became for a painkiller, Norco. Norco, Vicodin & Lortab are all different kinds of hydrocodone & acetaminophen, relies upon on what the potential of each and every lively element. The Norco i became given became 7.5/325, meaning there is 7.5mg of hydrocodone & 325mg of apap, therefore you're given a lot less tylenol and prepared to take it more desirable many times. The sig (instructions) were a million each and every 2 to 6 hours as mandatory, of route the more desirable you're taking it the more desirable uncomfortable aspect effects you'll have. i did not get a "buzz" off of the Norco, if something I were given somewhat dizzy from it if I were given up rapidly, yet once you're laying in mattress all day, and also you probably did not eat a lot -- it truly is an obtrusive concern for any drugs to make you ill. depending upon your concern, complexity of your case, and choose for drugs, you may continuously smash them in 1/2, take 1/2, wait an hour, and if mandatory take the different, I genuinely propose attempting to eat something with any discomfort killer. regardless of in case your physician provides your Percocet, it really is straightforward to break them (they are scored), and basically believe your body. i'd also take the painkiller (truly on the first & 2d day) previously it starts to "placed on off". the numerous grievance interior the drugstore I artwork at with painkillers is constipation, and itching, both one among that are really maintained with over the counter products. basically different regular suggestion I actually have on know-how teeth is hit upon frozen corn as ice packs. Sounds weird and wonderful, regardless of the indisputable fact that the drugstore I artwork for needed like 22 funds for an ice %., so I ran to massive were given 2 bags of frozen corn which worked out quite nicely. It molded to my face right. I had all 4 of mine bumped off, quite impacted, yet my physician & his team were mind-blowing. i became decrease back to "standard" 2 days later, granted i'm nonetheless sore a week & a 1/2 later after I yawn or open my mouth quite huge, yet judging from some human beings & their horror thoughts, it would want to of been muchhhhh worse. solid success!!
