The way it normally works if your flight gets canceled do to an "act of god" is they have you wait at the airport until what ever weather event is over then you get put on the first flight with any seats available. So you will have to do a bunch of waiting around. I suggest you bring a book or something to read as well as cash so you can buy munchies if you need them.

If the flights are cancelled by the airlines they either give you an alternative flight or your money back. If you choose not to go because of the weather and the flights are not cancelled, then you may either get a partial refund or new flights if you pay a penalty.

If the airline cancels your flight because of the weather, you will get either your money refunded for that leg of the trip, or a seat on a different flight, but not both, and you won't get any "compensation" for weather cancellations. No free tickets for additional flights, no free hotels, etc.

I can only assume you are talking about Denver International Airport, as they are expecting another blizzard tonight, and will most likely close the airport yet again. And yes, the airlines will take care of you and let you get another flight once the storm clears.

It depends on the terms and conditions of your purchase, you may face with the followings:
1.Standby
2.They refer you to other airlines and you may have to pay extra
3.They give you a different flight (could be next day)
I suggest you talk to the airlines representative.
God bless!

I've been in that situation before. They will definitely find you another flight and won't charge you more. It may be a different airline/route/time, but they'll get you there. I guess it's just something we gamble with when we book a flight.
Good luck!!!

I called Southwest today because I am supposed to fly into Denver as a layover this weekend. They advised me to call the day of my flight and that they usually try to get you to your destination.

It mostly depends on which company you took... You should talk to a representative of that air-flight company, but basically there are three options:
1) Money back
2) New flight
3) Nothing (worse case)

LOL. Smart woman. Not what I would have said, because I'm Christian, and I would feel guilty after. Very witty though :)
