I don't know what case you are referring to but in general, women are treated as special creatures by law enforcement and judges.
This has been the case for as long as I can remember (I'm 63 y/o), but has become much worse with the rise of feminism.
Of course you are right, rape is rape, whether it is a man or a woman who is raped and the punishment should be the same.

it is a power trip. rape is nothing more than a sexual compulsion (a violent/wrong one) that is done to make a person feel superior and empowered by causing harm and fear in an individual. it is the same whether they are male or female (about 10% of all rape victims are male)
