Either that or he got a really good deal on a diamond necklace.

If he's your best guy friend, call him on it.

"Hey Jethro...I love the necklace, but isn't it the sort of thing you'd give someone you have the hots for?"

NOTE: If his name isn't Jethro, substitute his actual name.

It's possible that he likes you... but the best thing to do is ask... because we girls can't always understand guys... but wow, that's a big present after being friends for 7 years! Just ask something like, "Wow! What does this mean?!" in a very excited way... so it shows your enthusiasm and not something suspicious that will make everything awkward... and if he's been close, he probably won't care if you say something awkward, and go like, "Oops, sorry, I was just wondering what it meant... that's all... because I thought that maybe it was something more." Good luck!

Yes, he wants to be a very very good friend. It is possible that he may want to be an intimate friend. Remember this, the best marriages or partners are people who are very good friends. Dont worry about it, ask then you will know for sure.

I think it might be a sign. I know that if my best guy friend did that, I would faint. But I wouldn't say anything other then thank you until he makes the first move.

Yeah, you could ask him directly. Or you could invite him out for dinner, to the movies, whatever and see how he responds.

I had "friend" who saw my tail-light was out, looked up all the years of my car's model, bought me new bulbs and changed it for me (not diamonds, but still...) then he askd me out a couple weeks later. I declined but figured he must like me. When I asked him though if he liked me, he denied it! He said he THOUGHT I seemed upset and he didn't want to push me (I was separated). But now we're dating. He did indeed like me, he was just scared I guess. I dunno.

That's a really nice gift for just a friend. I would just ask him, but it seems like he's thinking more than friendship.
