There are a lot of things that schizophrenia causes in the body. Most of them occur in the mind, though. It also depends on how mild of a case you are talking about. Not all cases have the same symptoms, although most are similar. There are hallucinations, extreme paranoia, paranoia can cause you to do things that would otherwise be illogical, such as killing people, jumping off of buildings, etc. Not all cases are as extreme.

Schizophrenic is what the guy in the movie "Analyze That" pretended to be in the beginning. He thought he was a character from "West Side Story" and started singing in a mess hall. Schizophrenia causes a person to have delusions and hallucinations. Delusions are the belief that they are something that they are not, or that they're doing something for a purpose when they're not. Hallucinations cause the person to believe that someone or something is there. A person with schizophrenia may wander down the street, waving a clove of garlic in front of them, and when you ask them what they're doing, they may tell you that they're warding off the evil demons that have come to take over the city. It is uncurable, but can be treated to a small degree through certain medications.

Schizophrenia is a mental illness, so its not really your body, but your mind that has problems with this disease. Its cognitive, behavioral, and emotional. Schizophrenia causes delusions and hallucinations. Since the brain is primarily effected by the disease, that is the part of the body effected. There are a few different kinds of schizophrenia, but primarily the disease causes the person suffering with it to be unable to tell what is real and what is not real, while their mind is creating delusions and hallucinations, like voices, scenarios, circumstances, etc. that are not real.

do you mean chemically?

Schizophrenia is a disease of someone's mental state...it has yet to find a cure....It can alter your chemcial imbalance in the brain but nothing that is physically damaging...only just mentally.

I've know people that had schizophrenia...it's a very sad mental state. I wouldn't wish that upon anyone.. I hope eventually they will find a cure.

It's not the body, it's the mind that's effected.
