The dentist that did the work should be able to help you more than anyone here.

Put a q-tip in your mouth on top of the filling and bite. If that hurts then the most likely cause is the filling is too high, so too much pressure is put on the filling when u bite. ,no big deal, your dentist can check this and all he has to do is file the new filling down a bit to fix it. If it doesn't hurt when you bite the q-tip, the problem is probably caused by something else. Either way you have to see your dentist.

Filling is either not in right--crooked, too large, too small.
I have a dentist put a filling in on the side of one of my teeth and it hurt everytime I ate something--or bit down on something. What happened was the dentist put the filling in, connecting it to the tooth and he thought he had the bottom part of the filling connected, BUT it wasn't so everytime I bit down the filling was cutting into my gum.
You may have an infection.
You may need a root canal.
Good luck--I have a dentist appointment on Tuesday and my anxiety is really high.

sounds like the filling is high
it is very common. When you numb you can not feel and your bite changes a little, so it is easy for a dentist to miss a bit when s/he adjusts the bite. Give them a call and it will take less than 5 min to fix it.
good luck

go back to your dentist. was it a root canal or just a regular filling? if there was decay, then it is possible they didn't get all the rot out. Or it could just be pressure pain. How bad is it? need more info.

Go insist that they fix it at no additional charge and don't be a wuss about it. they didn't file it down enough when they were done filling it.
