Stephen was stoned to death for telling the truth. I guess we may be afraid to tell the truth.

because it is easier to agree with something that you want to hear and already are living that way rather than have to face the fact that they were wrong before and in accepting the truth rather than what they want to hear, they would have to admit they were wrong.

The truth is always difficult to hear, and most of us get defensive. It sounds like destructive criticism from some people, rather than a constructive criticism. Some people, without meaning to, sounds like they know it all, and that reminds us of our childhood (mom/dad) and we react as children. We agree with an answer, at times, to not be rude, but then follow our own inclinations. It is called, "Yes, but..." in psychological circles.
If someone asks you to respond to a question, etc. the answer you give them is a gift. They then have the choice to accept your gift or not; the choice remains theirs. Once given, the answer is not yours anymore, so their refusal or acceptance should not really matter to you. Have a good day!

Because the "truth" is relative. What you think is truth is nonsense to someone who believes the opposite. Especially when talking about Religion; a subject where there is no proof one way or the other and everyone's belief is equally valid. Believing you have the one "truth" is just arrogant and false.

Because some people "cant handle the truth", if its too much to bear. One cant look at the picture with one eye closed to see the truth.

I don't. I like the truth, and would rather hear that. If someone is calling an opinion that has no basis in fact "truth", I'm not interested.

Because the truth is relative to the person that hears it. Meaning, if a person doesn't believe that what you say is the truth, you won't get their agreement.

That drives me crazy! I hate when people direct a question to atheists, Christians, or whoever and then give the best answer to someone who doesn't belong in that group. For example, a question directed to atheists should not have a best answer go to someone that quotes the Bible to back up a Christian viewpoint. It's stupid. If you want those answers, don't direct your questions to an atheist, Christian, or whatever!

Because irregardless if they are Christian, Atheist, Muslim, Hindu (and all of the above on here do it repeatedly) most people are to insecure and weak in their self esteem and knowledge to look at things from anyother perspective then from their own and declare it may have valid points.

Because what many believe is the truth is only a truth to them, when it reality it is a mere opinion.
