Ever since it started getting cold out, my chocolate lab seems to be getting really bad dry skin. It started out as normal dandruff, but now it is pretty bad, to the point where he is losing hair. I keep him bathed once every 2 weeks, but it doesn't seem to help. Any ideas or recommended products would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I have a lab/chessapeake bay mix and have the same issues. His is year-round but worse in the winter. The problem is that the dry spots can end up getting infected and it will need antibiotics. I think my dog's dry spots are some type of allergic reaction that gets worse in the cold and not just "dry spots". I keep him on 3 benedryl a day and bathe him with oatmeal dog shampoo. I also think bathing every 2 weeks is too often, especially in the winter. I try to go a month without giving him a bath, otherwise it strips them of their natural oils. In the mean time if he gets stinky I spritz him with some doggy fragrance.
