I know this question has been asked a zillion times, but I would still like to get more answers.
I would really appreciate it if you mention your gender, nationality and your religion (or if you are an atheist/agnostic etc).
Some people think veiled women are oppressed, but the truth is that those women have chosen to wear it by free will. I live in the Middle East and I know what I'm talking about. Sometimes, it is due to culture.
But what is your own personal opinion about veiled girls?

i understand distinct women human beings of multiple faiths that veil or otherwise conceal their hair. the motivation in the back of the veil is what concerns. no matter if it is your man or woman selection to gown modestly and veil I applaud you. if you're being pressure to veil i'm heart damaged for you and favor to work out you loose to make your man or woman selection. We conceal our hair basically when we are married. To the guy who reported a veil replaced into too sexual, hair is likewise used as a sexual attraction. Watch any shampoo commercial. so that you're suggesting all women human beings shave their heads because you do not have any self administration ? that is YOU which have a sexual difficulty.

I am an American and a Christian...
I will give you my opinion since you asked so nice!
I do not believe it to be necessary in America...especially if you come to this country to become an American, and live here permanently. Our culture does not wear veils, and not to be revealing either. It is about freedom, and equality - basically.
I do not have a personal problem with anyone who wears a veil, especially if it is by choice. But, it does not allow you to be a part of the typical Americal community, and can cause people to react negatively. I do not like that, in that sense...
You see...when people immigrate to a county...I think it is important to embrace the culture of those peoples as best as is possible. To talk to an ant, you would have to be an ant... So, if I went to the Middle East...I would wear a veil, by choice... not because I accept the philosophy...because I wish to be respectful of people's thoughts and feelings. But, I would not live in the Middle East by choice... I believe that the culture oppresses women, and I would be hurt because of that fact.
Veils to me are really not the issue... to me it is about how women are treated in general. Since I am a woman...that is very important to me.

Hi
I think veiled women are strong .
The Hijab is viewed as a liberation for women, in that the covering brings about "an aura of respect" and women are recognized as individuals who are admired for their mind and personality, "not for their beauty or lack of it" and not as sex objects.
Muslims believe that God gave beauty to all women, but that her beauty is not be seen by the world, as if the women are meat on the shelf to be picked and looked over. When she covers herself she puts herself on a higher level and men will look at her with respect and she is noticed for her intellect , faith ,and personality, not for her beauty.
The Muslim woman does not feel the pressures to be beautiful or attractive, which is so apparent in the Western and Eastern cultures. She does not have to live up to expectations of what is desirable and what is not. Superficial beauty is not the Muslim woman's concern, her main goal is inner spiritual beauty. She does not have to use her body and charms to get recognition or acceptance in society

Since I actually have known many great Muslims, I'm totally aware that the veil is worn by choice, not force. Personally, I feel it adds a bit of attractive mystery to a woman. Blessed are those that do as they wish without bowing to outside forces of humans!

I believe the ones that choose to do it, are very modest indeed and are showing their modesty by wearing the veil.
In some islamic countries, it is the law to wear the veil... In simple terms, the dress code is a little more strict. Those that say that they are oppressed are totally wrong in doing so. Even in the U.S, you cannot walk the streets nude... are you going to try and when you go to jail say that because they are making cover yourself that you are being oppressed???
I'm a male muslim living in the States.

They can wear whatever they want but, I would like to welcome them to the 21st century. If they want to live by 7th century cultural norms perhaps they should also give up modern conveniences like education and technology so they can "authentically" live what they believe in.
