It depends on what you want to do with your career, too. I have worked as an manufacturing engineer and project engineer for over 10 years in manufacturing companies. I use very little of what I learned in class. What I do need is the ability to set up problems and solve them. That's the important part that I learned in my curriculum. However, if you decide you want to work in research, either in a university or in a for-profit firm, you may be more likely to need to compute. Most of the jobs available in industry do not involve much computation, however, so you should be fine. I must emphasize that you should try to determine what career path you want to take, if possible, before changing majors.

Sounds to me like you like the physical part of engineering but not the mathematics involved. I believe you really have to like mathematics to be successful in engineering. But, it's hard to say whether you should quit. If you just don't like the number crunching (arithmetic), I would say that is not a drawback. Thanks to computers, you shouldn't have to be faced with a lot of tedious computations anymore. But if you really don't like the math, that's not a good thing.

If you like the conceptual part of physics, you should like it's applications. This is an excellent career also if you like mathematics.
I myself am asking myself if I should become an engineer. I like mathematics and physics.
CALCULATING IS NECESSARY.

ENGINEERING IS MORE ABOUT MAKING... IF U WOULD LIKE IN THE FUTURE TO MAKE STUFF U ARE IN THE RIGHT WAY.
IF U LIKE MORE THE ONLY PHYSICS AND NOT THE MATERIAL STUFF, PERHAPS U SHOULD CHANGE YOUR CAREER

Why not the computations. Calculations are how engineers communicate. "Show me the calcs."
