There is no "best dog". There are about 400 dog breeds in the world (not just AKC). So to ask this question is like asking what is the best car? It all depends on what kind of person you are, your lifestyle, your personality, activity level, knowledge of dogs, allergies, etc.
I suggest going to your local Humane Society. They take the time to get to know the dogs before they adopt them out. You can get an idea of the dogs personalities and quirks. Go there and meet all the dogs, spend some one on one time with the ones that catch your interest, talk to the staff about what you are looking for, they can help. You can then soundly make a good decision on a companion you may very well have for a good 12 years at least, (depending on age). Good luck and please take your time, so you make a wise choice.

There really isn't a single "best dog" to get. It depends on a number of things. The size of your living space, how much energy you have, and many other matters affect this. It's probably a good idea to talk to somebody at a pet shop about what you are looking for exactly. Every species is "best" for somebody.

The best dog to get is one from your local animal shelter! They will be eternelly grateful and you will have saved a dog from being put under!Besides dogs I have bought from breeders have usually had some medical problem or another! So my opinion is a Mutt is the best dog you can have!

a golden retriever or lhasa apso? both are good with children and are good-tempered and obedient dogs
i have a lhasa myself, they have long hair and need grooming.
They dont need as much exercise as golden retriever.
It'd be good if you could figure out the best dog to get based on how big your house is, whether u have children, if you are free enough to take the dog for walks everyday and if u want a playful dog or one thats not that hyperactive, whether you're prepared to spend as much on grooming etc

ALL DEPENDS ON YOU!!! everyone has a different personality, therefore there r certain dogs that would be GREAT with u! for me, i'd like a Rat Terrier, they don't shed, and are small. Wat i would suggest is go to a dog quiz, and it matches u up with the type of dog that would suit u the best. here are some websites, u could try.

It really all depends oh what type of person you are. If you want an energetic dog then get like a lab if you want a calmer dog then get something along the lines of a beagle.

Depends on wether your wanting a big dog, little dog or a lap dog.
Also do you have small children? You have to consider one that will be compatible with your family.
Example:
Cocker Spaniels are great family pets very good with childen BUT, are subject to ear infections and lots of grooming.

Well that depends on you and what you are looking for.
Are you look for a small breed that doesn't shed?
Are you looking for a large breed, a guard dog?
Medium size?
The best dog to get is one that suits your lifestyle. If you have children well one that is good with children.

All of that depends on what kind of living quarters you yourself have--If you live in an apartment you wouldnt want a large dog--but if you live in the country then a sporting dog would be great--

BEAGLESssssss. We got ours from the shelter. And he is the best. He is our baby. Spoiled rotten. He's smart, goes potty before bed every night, doesn't go in the house. Doesn't dig holes or escape under the fence. Very good with our niece & nephews, cats, doesnt bark. Likes doggy day care. Animated face & eyes.
