My husband and I both work full-time and have two girls ages 3 yrs and 1 yrs. First, the baby got sick and needed to be out 2 days and the following week, our oldest got sick and needed to be out. These jobs were new to us and taking off all that time almost cost us our jobs. What do you other parents do with your children when they are sick?

We have had to alternate taking the time off. It is super hard especially when you are both new to your jobs. See if you can find a baby sitter for days like that. Good luck!

I am very lucky to have a babysitter who watches only my children so if they are ill she still watches them. Unfortuantly, kids illness' come with being parents and you have to do waht you have to do. Maybe your husband and you can alternate who stays home with the kids... or find a back up babysitter such as a family member or friend that doesnt work and could be on call if needed. While it would be nice if most employers are really good about this type of thing, the truth is most are not... maybe you and your husband can talk to your managers and ask what you can do to make things easier if time off for sick kids is needed such as bringing home work or working an extra shift. Also, remember that you and your husband are first and foremost parents so if the time off to care for your children costs you a job.... there are other ones out there. Its just a fact of life that we have to deal with because now and days both parents have to work to support the family and household. Take Care honey.

well im not a mother but i am a kid. Whenever I get sick or something and my mom can't take off work she'll give me to my grandmother to watch me. If my grandma can't do it she sometimes asks a friend that can afford to take off work to watch me. Good luck and I hope they get better soon.

most employers are pretty good when it comes to cases such as these - i believe they have to be child friendly now!!!

All you can do is appologise to your boss and hope he's ok with that
