I've heard that a saloon bought shampoo and conditioner is better than a store bought one. Is this true? I've considered using Paul Mitchelle or Dove, but I'm not sure which to get?! Saloon or store bought one? Please help! Thanks in advance.

My favorites are:
Ken Pave's -shampoo is awesome (his conditioner is too heavy)

I am a 56 year old woman with long blonde hair---(yeah ok it's colored) I use PANTENE products and leave the conditioner on for 1/2 hour... People are ALWAYS complimenting my hair and feeling it and saying how soft it is--it's my one and only good feature... but prior to using PANTENE, no one ever said anything about my hair except that it is THICK... So, Pantene shampoos, conditioner and once a month use Pantene Hair Restorer (it's like a VERY VERY thick conditioner)...

Not true. Ingredients are very important and it does not matter where it is purchased so try to get more natural products and read the labels so if it says it has honey in it and it is at the very bottom it is a no go. Some of the vital ingredients are kertain protien (protein is the only thing that can be absorbed into the shaft so it promotes growth), essentail oils (rosemary, camomile(natural highlighter) aloe vera,or citurs oil), Ethyl Pantheniol (moisture) , Balsam (adds volume), and Amino acids. Eat well and add a mulit vitamin to your diet to attack the problem at the root.

Blessings!

The salon quality shampoo and conditioner are going to be better for your hair, it just depends it you care that much about it. You can tell a difference with how your hair looks and feels when you use professional products however, unless you have damaged or colour treated hair don't worry to much about getting salon quality. FYI just don't use Herbal Essences, it's the worst for your hair.

they're the same thing...hey where do you think that the saloons get them?
Dove is a really good shampoo/conditioner, especially if you want to have nice bouncy curls or extra soft hair. =P

I have very fine hair and alot of it so I have to be careful that I dont buy a product that weighs it down, I dont think the expensive brands are much better then the store brands, I would say it would depend on what type of hair you have and what kind of results your trying to achieve

Salon shampoos, they may cost more but they will last you longer, because of the consistency of them (the shampoo is as thick or thicker than) the store bought ones and the coditioner is thicker so you use less.

salon shampoo/conditioner ofcourse!!! if your gonna buy store bought shampoo/conditioner then you might aswell pour cat pee on your hair! seriously im not critisizing you, but you have to know that anything cosmetic-related should never be store bought, oh, and you should use dove.
