When I was 10, I constructed a fully functional plutonium enrichment plant in my mother's automatic dishwasher.

I used household items to successfully clone a copy of my little sister when I was 12.

Use your imagination.

I will give you the KILLER PROJECT, which was very successful for my son a few years ago - what does a water balloon look like without the balloon?

INGREDIENTS:
-- one plastic trash can lid
-- a film flash camera (digital won't work because of the delay between depressing the shutter and the flash going off)
-- magnifying glass (somewhat optional, depending on the camera)
-- one or two 8-foot pieces of cheap 1"x2" pine
-- a small hinge
-- one 18" piece of about 3/16" threaded rod for the spike
-- 1-5/8" drywall screws, maybe some small nails, duct tape
-- water balloons
-- a little ingenuity in construction to get the whole thing right

The basic idea is to construct a camera holder a few inches over the edge of the trash can lid, pointing the camera toward the center of the lid, and a hinged arm on the opposite side that, when released, will land on the shutter button of the camera. This same hinged arm also has the spike in the middle that will puncture the water ballon just before it hits the shutter button and ignites the flash. When you actually do it, it is best to do it in a dark room.

I was a little surprised at the pics we got. The balloon, once punctured, rips very quickly, contracting around the ball of water inside before the water begins to fall. So what you end up with, if you get the spike and the camera right, is a ball of water sitting on a trash can lid.

If you use a cheap non-focusable camera, the pics will probably be blurry from being too close to the action. If so, you can mount a small magnifying glass an inch or 2 in front of the lens, which will shorten the focus and sharpen the pics, very recommended.

But the most interesting demo occurs when you do this in a very dark room while watching. You set it up, turn off the lights, wait a moment for your pupils to dialate, then let'er rip. When the flash fires, the image of the ball of water will kind of be burned onto your retina, and you'll see the ball of water very clearly for a few tenths of a second, it's quite cool. So all in all, this can be the basis of more than one science experiments - nature of the progression of a punctured water ballon, or comparision of elasticity versus gravity in terms of speed, or retinal retention of images, or whatever else you can come up with. This is a pretty original project compared to most others you might have run across, and it only took us a couple of hours to get it up and running, leaving you plenty of time to experiment and perfect before your February showtime.

I'd be happy to provide more info and a drawing on how to do this if you are interested, click on my name for email contact, preferably after you've selected this as "Best Answer" ;^)

I still remember my 6th grade project....although it was a long time ago now.

I tested the growth of plants using different liquids other than water.

Try using the following liquids for the experiment:

Water (control)

Salt Water

Coffee

Pepsi/Coke

Orange Juice

Give each plant different liquids, but in the same amounts.

Plot the growth of each plant and characteristics of each one'ss growth.

Coffee did the best for me, but now sure if it was just a fluke or not.

I enjoyed the experiment and actually thought it was fun.

Good luck!

See which brand of tooth paste works better. Get x amount of hard boiled eggs (so if they break you won't have a gooey mess) and soak them in coffee for 6 hours. It should stain. And then use whitning tooth pastes, regular, just all kinds and see which one cleans the stain off the egg the best.
Have fun
Hope you can use it.

I did a social experiment. I made all different kinds of jello and puddings. I didn't tell people the names but just asked them to try them. Most people wouldn't try the green one, because of the color. In the end, the 'normal' colors were the most well received, even though they all tasted fine.

I once build a Van de Graff generator and it was a lot of fun . They are easy to made and they are awesome to demostrate .
There are tons of stuff you could achieve with one , like flashing a little lamp wirelesly ,atracting and repealing bubles, if you put little stripes of tisue paper on it they will go up.

this link has all you need to build one give it a try
