But I'm not getting much sleep cause she wakes up in the middle of the night to eat and after she eats she wants to play. How can I get her used to sleeping alone (should I start now?) with out hearing her cry cause it breaks my heart. Advice would be nice.

Buy a crate big enough for her to sleep in. Buy some stuffed animals (cheap ones) for her to curl up with. Put her in a room as far from the bedroom as possible. Her crying and whining is not because she is lonely, it's a conditioned response. She has been conditioned to expect you to show up, snuggle, cuddle, ect when she cries. It should not take too many nights before she is sleeping peacefully. Once she gets used to the crate, she can be moved closer to your bedroom-slowly.

I have a boxer who is 9 months old. At 6 months she was ready to sleep on her bed in the bedroom with us.

Good luck! It's obvious that you love your puppy! I bet she loves you, too.

First off she is too young to even be away from mom and littermates. In most states it is illegal to buy/sell, adopt or give away ANY puppy that has not completed it's 7th week and in some states 8 weeks. No responsible breeder EVER sells a puppy under 8 weeks old.
She needs to get up in the middle of the night to eat and also to go potty. She is too young to be expected to go all night.
I recommend crate training her and making sure that she has a stuffed animal or a nice soft blanket to cuddle with to help her adjust and keep her comforted. Make sure to get up with her at night for now to take her out to potty as time goes on and she gets older lengthen the time between letting her out. Don't run to her every time she cries because this will just be setting up a routine of reward for an unwanted behavior..it will be teaching her that a little noise will get her exactly waht she wants and that she runs the show, not the humans in the house.

The dog should still be with the mother and the rest of the litter. 5 weeks is way too young. The pup should be sleeping in a crate not in the bed unless you are planning on it sleeping with you forever. The pup will whine but if you do not take it out when it starts whining the pup will get use to it.

Well what I do with the puppies when they are like that, I put it in it's bed, or cage (wich ever you are using) and put a rag or baby doll about the size of the mother (unles it's a large breed) if it's a large breed just somthing the size of the puppy it's self. And even spray what ever you smell like (shampoo sent, purfume, colone, soap, deodorant) and get the scent on the rag or doll. If you are close to the owner of the mother then ask if maybe you could get the shampoo the mother uses or rub the rag agianst the mother to get her scent. Then the puppy will feel as if it's you or the mother next to her. :)

Ideally you should get a crate for her and begin crate training her. Yes, she is going to whine the first few nights but if you ignore her she will realize that that is where she has to be and that whining isn't going to be her ticket out and she will get use to it. I have had my 5 month old Bichonpoo in a pen since I got her at 12 weeks old. She whined the first few nights and it killed me to hear those puppy cries. But I ignored her and soon she would go in her pen without a whimper. She knows that is bed. Don't let her sleep with you you could accidentally roll over on her, she will continue to disrupt your sleep, she could have pee and poop accidents in bed.

Why have you had a puppy for a week that is 6 weeks old? That means you got it when it was 5 weeks old. Puppies should not be away from their mother or littermates until they are 8 weeks old. That is the law. To answer your question, yes your puppy does miss her mom. She was supposed to be with her another 3 weeks. That time is critical for puppy development. Shame on the breeder/seller who you got the puppy from.

i think kelly said it best, get a crate and put something that smells like you, a sock, t shirt, and start as soon as possible but make sure the crate is inside, she could bark loud and wake everyone up, that happened to me and i lost my dogs due to some very mean neighbors
