Many children this age can do these things, if given the proper encouragement and experiences. The more that parents do with their children and talk with them, the more they absorb. That is why the first five years are so critical to children... now is the time when their little brains are soaking up like sponges. Take advantage of this time period and put as much in there as you can!

I worked in a daycare for many years and this is considered normal. If he knew the sounds of letters and understood that they could be put together that would be a bit advanced. Most kids this age know that stuff and those that don't often quickly catch up to their peers.

of course it is normal! I wish my son knew is alphabet and numbers (he is 3.5 also)! He can sing the alphabet and can reconize letters in his name and can reconize a few numbers too. Good job with your son! Keep up with whatever you are doing right!

Yes. Perhaps a little advanced for his age but that is a good thing. My son is the same way and he turned 4 in September. Be proud!

Sounds pretty normal to me! My 2.5yo daughter was able to do all of those things.

Does he know letter sounds? Try introducing that. Also, he might enjoy tracing shapes and letters. You could have him start practicing writing his name.
