Apply to your nearest Social Security office .They will advise you. The allowance is called a Disability Allowance, and based on the info to hand, the child in question will qualify. There are conditions. Living at home-----Full allowance. In care----Part allowance. Ensure that all medical records are available, and it would do no harm to have a letter from the childs G.P. when you visit. Good Luck.

you need to claim (dla) disability living allowance, phone your local dhss and they'll inform you where to get the form........but be warned its more like a book to fill in than a form so you should make an appointment with your welfare rights office if you find it hard to fill in....if that's not the form you need the dhss will advise you with what you need, if it is the right benefit for you and once you start claiming it,if you are the child's carer you will be able to request careres allowance and if you are claiming income support make sure your child's disability allowance gets added to your money.

yes ..... it all depends on the extent of the condition and how this affects the child on a day to day basis .... i.e. how much personal care do they really need and do they have mobility problems. I gather that most claimants on this get turned down on initial application but it really depends on if it's a borderline case or not. You can of course appeal but you cannot make up a need, it has to be well defined in nature and actual requirement. Usually the criteria for DLA are well laid down but always subject to individual merit.
