then he was holding onto to me...he looked like he was about to kiss me but then my friend walked up to us and he backed up a little...

It means that you are important to him. Why can't you get it through your thick skulls? Don't over-analyze everything! In the end, it means exactly what the guy said. We are not manipulative and only communicate in a round about way like all of you confused women. We are very direct. It means that you are important to him in his life. No more, no less.

I cannot help but think this kind of funny. If he said exactly what you say, then it is obvious that he has seen the light. He doesn't know when, but he has, It may be a little late, but take it for face value. If a former ex said that to me I would say, "OK where have you been"
