I miss my dog so much. She was stolen. Someone just came to our driveway and took her away with them.

How can I get over this? And has this ever happened to anyone?

That is a toughie ! ! ! Sorry to hear that. I, too, have lost dogs to theft. 3 of them over the years. It is a slow process but with time the hurt will ebb away.

Some people want to get another dog right away and others want to wait and do some grieving before they even think about getting another dog. Just bide your time and maybe just go looking at what is available in your area. check the pound, humane societies, rescue places, adds in the news paper, just check out what is out there. You may fall in love as soon as you lock eye contact with something that you see.

With a little time and some fond memories the pain in your heart well ease.

=(

I hope you filed a police report immediately, even though it sounds like there's a slim chance they'd be able to do anything. You never know, though, and it's always good to get such a thing on the record ASAP in case new evidence does miraculously land in your lap in the future (e.g., an eyewitness). Also, you should probably field some calls to local animal shelters in the next few weeks in case he shows up in one of those.

If you're sitting on a lot of money, maybe you can hire a private investigator?

Are you sure he was stolen? Sometimes energetic breeds run off and get lost when they see something and chase it, and sometimes old dogs wander off to find a secluded spot to die (it's part of the pack instinct-- some dogs can't cope with the fact that they are too decrepit to contribute to the pack, i.e. protect your family).

In all reality, though, judging by the apparent hopelessness in the tone of your question, it doesn't seem like you'll get your dog back. You'll have to take it day by day, and remind yourself and others to be more careful with pets in the future.

I am so, so sorry for your loss. =(

Sorry I can relate had a buff color cocker once, he was in the yard tied to his dog house, just put him out for a little fresh air while I bathed the baby, someone hopped the fence and took him, he was just a pup but I still think of what a horrible person that was, I waited a while then got a new dog

To tell you the truth you will probably never get over it. The loss of a pet is hard not matter what. Especially in your case since you probably are wondering what happened to your dog. This has never happened to me and I can't imagine how you are feeling. Just try to remember the good times with your dog.
Sorry about your loss.

That's unfortunate...pets run away, die, get stolen...its too bad in any situation.

I cant tell you how to get over it, time, perhaps?

My hubby and I had to put down our beloved dog of 14 years, last spring. It was a traumatic experience for me...never done that before. We are getting over it, but his "birthday" was hard.

I have a little photograph of him on the shelf by the TV with his collar next to it. We light candles near it sometimes...we miss him. It will never go away, but one day it wont be so hard.

Try offering a reward. Maybe she is raising hell at the new place and those people will be tempted by the money. I know it seems so wrong to have to buy her back, but you want her to be ok. Put up posters for "lost dog" not "stolen dog", then offer reward and "no questions asked".

That happened to my beagle. I'm sorry. What kind of a dog was it? I think you should contact the police and bring them a picture, and if you know they stool the dog and it didn't run away or wonder away and get lost, you probably saw what the vehicle looked like? You just about have a good bit of info for the cops to possably be able to find them. I'm sorry about it all I truely am.

When my Mom was a girl, her dog Princess had puppies. The cutest one, named Ruff, got stolen one day. He was walking with Princess, and Princess came back, but not Ruff. To this day, they all know that he was stolen. I'm sorry that your dog is stolen. I hope she is okay, and "yes!" my Mom has experienced this!

Terribly sorry about your misfortune. I don't know what I would do if my dog were stolen.

I'm very sorry for your loss. It's difficult indeed and you will never get over it, only time will make it easier to deal with. I hope you reported the theft to the authorities, because in all likelihood, there is a puppy mill nearby. Good luck Little Doggie, where ever you are. God be with you.
