Where did you get that idea? I don't believe I've ever seen a neutered male that suddenly squatted to pee when he used to lift his leg.

I don't think you can jump to that conclusion. Some male dogs may squat after being neutered, but far from all.

I take my dog (girl dog, spayed and squats and lifts leg at different times) to the dog park and all the male dogs there must be fixed and most of them lift their legs.

So, I don't think your observation is based on enough examples to draw a fair conclusion. My observation is different.

Hiking the leg while peeing is a Territorial thing. They are marking their territory with urine that is loaded with testosterone. When their gonads where cut there went the testosterone. With out the hormone there are many changes. Including the 'squat' vs the 'hike.

That is why neutering an aggressive male calms him down.

hormones ( it depends on how old they are all puppies squat ) the leg lift is equivalent to puberty and older dogs can still lift ( learned behavior )

My male dog doesn't. He still pee's on everything he can. He lifts that leg as high as he can, like he is proud.

If they were lifting their leg before being neutered they will continue to do so after neutering. Neutering has no affect on "leg lifting".

probably because he just had a major surgery, and is pretty sore in that area. its tender, hurts, and to lift the leg would bring more pain.

he'll lift again!
