They met in church and the whole church will be there. Both his kids and her kids are delighted. What are some things we can plan to make this day very special for them?

They are both very healthy and active and have many friends. The church doesn't allow alcohol or dancing. What would be ideas for the reception as well. No smart a** remarks please! I just hope I am this happy and healthy at their ages! What kinds of things would be good to add to the traditional ceremony/reception. I'm thinking that throwing rice might be dangerous as they could fall. Thanks for the great ideas so far. The wedding is planned for late February.

Can you rent a horse and carriage for them to depart from the church in? That's very romantic and something I bet they will enjoy ( unless one of them is afraid of horses).
Simplicity is best for the marriage of an older couple. I went to a wedding once where the couple was older - - - - they had only a couple of candles in memory of their parents who couldn't be there to witness the union. Maybe just one flower arrangement and the bride carried either a rose or a very simple bouquet. It was one of the loveliest weddings I've ever attended.

I would find something they both enjoy and run with it as a theme. You can find a lot about theme weddings because they are very 'in' right now. (like if they are both Irish or something, look into that nation's wedding traditions, or if they both like dancing, make that the center of the evening)

A tie, wallet, musical card, a portriat of the relatives,socks,a watch fixed, if he drives some gas, pay for his backyard to be taken care of. In different words the comparable presents which you may provide a 30 12 months previous guy.
