The easiest way that I've found is to put it in the freezer for about an hour, assuming, of course that the wax container can be removed from the heating element. If so, put it in the freezer for about an hour and the wax will pop right out.

The freezer method is an old method but works very well, however, you don't need to leave the tart warmer in for an hour. I use Yankee Candle tart warmers, both electric and traditional (with tealights), and I find 15 minutes is a sufficient amount of time to leave in the freezer. And no, it won't hurt the electric cord.

i have tart warmers all over my house ,depends on which ones you have if they are the ones where the glass just lifts off take them to the sink and run hot water over the backs then take a butter knife and lift out also you can put them in the microwave for a few sec that should do it .If they are the plug in ones i always take a butter knife and go around at the edge and should pop out if not turn on for a few then try and pop it out . good luck hope it works for you too
