Stay away from the central City area. Commute is fine, but in the Atlanta suburbs is better. Atlanta is growing big time and rush hour traffic is a nightmare. It just gives me the creeps. I hate rush hour.
You are better living about 30 miles from Atlanta heart and then it gets better from there. I can;t see how people that live in Atlanta have not gone crazy driving in rush hour that takes you two hours to get out. All you see for miles is cars backed up bumper to bumper...Man give me abreak...fvck Atlanta

If you're talking about within the city itself, you really don't want to live downtown unless you work there also and are going to be close to the office (close enough to not need a car).
Otherwise, stay away from the southeast suburbs such as East Point. Even though it's busy, try Marietta or Kennesaw if you want to have a lot of choices. Alpharetta or Cumming are also good spots. Buckhead is a bit pricey.
Good luck!

You don't want to live within 2 miles of the airport. It's ok to live off of I-20 but not Langford Parkway. Stay away from Cleveland Ave, Bankhead, or Moreland on the south side. Crime & drugs is stupid in those areas. Cruise around and see where people are taking care of their houses, that's where you want to live.

Doraville - unless you speak Spanish or Korean
Southside - unless your gangsta
Alpharetta - unless you actually work there too
Midtown - unless your gay
I've always like Marietta and Smyrna, and parts of Roswell.
Northside, Collier Hills, Buckhead and Sandysprings are good if you make bank.
