my friends baby did that and she was in ICU for the first few days. Are there long term effects.

My daughter swallowed meconium and was in the icu for 2 months with a terrible viral infection due to the scalp electrode they placed on her head also. She is a now a very healthy 3 year old now. I barely noticed any lasting effects. When she was 12 months old I had her evaluated because I felt her motor skills were a little behind, which they were about a month or so, but that is within the normal range of development. I wouldn't be too concerned about the future.

the long term effects would depend on how quickly the baby respondeed to treatment.if a baby has bm in the womb they can inhale it when they are born.it can be serious but if taken care of quickly and baby gets oxgen in time no longterm effects.
