We are still married. Husband took two youngest kids over 5 years ago. Just found them...have them in my custody now for xmas but he wants them back. What can I do? I don't want to put them through the same thing he did 5 years ago. My one year is now 6 years old and she doesn't really know me. She calls my husbands present girlfriend Mommy. So hurt...can he be charged with something? What can I do?

Contact your local authorities and find out now while you still have them.

Therapy and trust and time...

Get legal help as quickly as possible. Not sure but I think he can be charged with abandonment at the very least. If you are still married, you should think about a divorce. And then get legal custody.

Shame on him for putting the kids thru that. I hope you are telling them that you have missed them and are glad to have them back. since he has had them all that time, it would probably be best if you did not say bad things about the only parent they remember --I know that would be hard, but be a better person than he is!

Good luck!

If he didn't have custody he can be charge with kidnapping especially if he remove them from the State of resident, and if you had primary custody or even join. go to a lawyer right away and start legal action to get Sole custody. Tell them you had no contact with them and No knowledge of where they were. DON'T WAIT AND CALL THE POLICE IN YOUR CITY TO STOP HIM FROM PICKING THEM UP. But a Lawyer Now. It's called parental Kidnapping.

why didn't you call the cops back then?? you should call the cops now and tell them that he abducged them a long time a go and you never reported it becasue you though he would bring them back. He can't take your kids from you jsut like that if you call the cops on him.

Start divorce proceedings. You'd have to consult a lawyer about if there are charges you can put against him. Good luck.
