Request the front desk for a silent hour so as to help you relax better. Sometimes they have music on too. I do not like that either. I request a perfect silence in the corner that I will be in. That is not rude in anyway.

Your therapist should know not to chit chat, the only conversation should be them asking you about the pressure they are applying. The only time I "chit chat" is when the client chooses to talk. But the less the therapist is talking the more they can concentrate on what they are doing.

Before the session begins.
However, small talk is when you need to inform the massuer whether the massage is going smoothly as in too hard or more pressure required.
Sometimes. they want to know your preferences so that at your next session, small talk is lesser and your needs met.

Just nicely tell the therapist that you prefer not to talk. Of if you are uncomfortable with that, tell the receptionist that when you call to make the appointment and ask them to book you with someone who doesn't chat.

it is better to ask for forgiveness than permission so I would simply say "forgive me for sounding rude but I really would rather not chit chat-I simply want a nice quiet massage. nothing more nothing less. thank you." then proceed to enjoy your nice quiet massage free of chit chat.

Don't respond to their questions at all. If they keep asking questions and you don't answer leave no tip and call the manager after you leave. You should get a coupon or gift card at least the problem will be adressed.
