. . . so much so that I vowed never to do it again, although it's a very one-sided relationship and the choice is quite limited, though on the positive side there's no language, race or religion barriers - though I've yet to satisfy my blow-up doll . . .

Yes and no. There were a couple of guys who I didn't even really know and they told me they loved me. One was a friend and I told him straight up that I didn't feel the same way. I just saw him as a friend. I felt guilty for being a bit harsh and stuff but your whole heart has to be there. I don't know if and inch of mine would have been there. Then there were a couple of yeses. I got back together w/one of them. But I made sure that second one was over since I was moving. It hurt like hell too. I really cared eeply for him and loved spending time w/him. I did feel guilty both of those times. But time will heal your heart. Trust me. If you're anything like me you could be back in the dating pool next month. You will find someone else. And I'm sure you've heard that already. But it's true. Even when you don't feel it. Best wishes.

♥ Yes, I broke my ex boyfriend's heart 2 or 3 times. He really loved me but he never wanted to show it in front of other people. Oh yes I did feel really guilty and I have to admit he made me feel guilty everyday. It's hard to get through a break up.

Everybody wants to believe they have broken somebodies' heart. That's flattering and make you feel superior...
Right, but does it mean that you were such a lovable and irresistible person or that the others were just desperate and weak?
Does it mean that they were really looking for someone like you or that you were trying to attract and attach them besides their own wishes?
Did you really break somebodies heart or want to believe that they miss you so much and can't do without you?
Just guessing, since people's hearts don't break, they are broken before hand, if just the absence of a loving one means impossibility to continue their life.

I've never broken someones heart. And yes you all should feel guilty if you do. However, if the relationship is uncompatible (which most are, hence the divorce rate), than you must make an adult move, to move. Don't play games, it fixes nothing and no one grows.

Yup I've broken a man's heart. And to me, that's the worst thing i could have ever done. I loved him, I still do. At the time hormones took over and whatever it was made me finish with him.
The look on his face, so sad, and it was almost like someone had stabbed me and him in the heart, and I thought to myself " I've broken my own heart"
So if you think about it, I've broken two hearts.
And thats even worse because you're not allowed to cry because it was your own fault it happened in the first place.
Anyway, we spoke one day and whilst i thought everything was ok, he burst out in tears saying how much he loved me and how he was sorry for whatever he did wrong. So i started crying with him, apologising for what i did and eventually after a whole nights worth of talking, we got back together again
So i broke 2 hearts and fixed them back together again, heh.
Now thats what i call love folks

yes i have quite a few and i am deeply sorry but there was good reason for my actions. but the one i remember to this day was when i was a teenager. I had a weight problem when i was a teenager and was always teased by boys. they use to say that i was fat and ugly and no one will love me and i will die a old maid. the nasty jokes they use to say used to make me cry for hours!! so you can understand my reaction when a boy came up to me and said that he loves me and want to go out with me. I thought he was just teasing me and playing a nasty joke so i told him to get lost!!! I later found out that this boy was very serious and had a crush on me and was heart broken!! yes i still feel guilty 30 years later!!

Yes. It makes you feel awful. The only heart I've ever broken never really recovered. After I moved out, he moved back in with his parents and has been there ever since. That was more than five years ago.
The guilt fades, but doesn't disappear. But I never regretted breaking up with him.

Yes, I broke a guy's heart in high school. He was a great guy but I just couldn't return his feelings. I felt terribly guilty about it.
