I washed my hair, blow-dried it, and just stratened it. it really looks like i just did a good job brow-drying it...it DOESN'T look straight. and the ends needs work. so I'm going to curl them. any ideas on how to make it look straight..and hang?
I have longish (shoulderbladelength), thick coarse, loosely coiled African-American hair.

Girl my hair is so straight and silky and heres what I do. I wash it then while its why comb ut out with wrapping lotion. Let it lay flat and wrap your hair up. When it dries it'll be soooo straight and silky when straightend. Plus your hair stays more healthier and more easy to comb out when it is wet.

I say spray some type of oil sheen in it and comb it out, but not to much or it will end up breaking due to you just blow-drying it. Also dont apply greese or mouse to it. greese will just make it sticky and hard to mangage. Mouse or gel will harden your hair, and having African American hair you know how long it takes to comb out your hair or fix it after a gel job. Also NO brushing, you will just end up with frizz. Spraying or applying some oil to your hair should help it straighten out.

Sounds like your hair is damage so you will need to clip your ends. Limit your use of heat hair appliances, they will cause your hair to become dry, brittle and break off. we have the same length hair except me hair is a little longer. Any way what you can do is go over your hair again then get hair curlers roll up your ends then wait 20 minutes and take them out so your hair is gonna look straight but curly it the ends. It's a cute hairstyle I did it before it came out nice.

You have to press it again and make sure your hot comb is hot enough.You could also put a scarf on your head and tie it under your chin(no do-rag style) for 5 minutes. It will make it look flat.

gurl u might need a perm....dats how my hair iz when its time fu me tu get a perm....i wash it and blow dry it and den straight iron it and it still looks nappy and weird...so i jus get a perm and do those things after da perm...hope dat helps!
