My new TV is a 23 inch LCD/HDTV ready, do I need to purchase the HDTV tuner box from the satelite company or does my TV already have it. I am so confused!

It depends on the receiver you already have. If you have a 211 or 622 you are probably already getting hi-def channels. If not, you will need to upgrade your package. Not only do you need a hi-def capable receiver, but you will also need to subscribe to a hi-def package. If you have been a Dish customer for at least a year, you can upgrade at a minimal cost. Keep in mind that these receivers are pretty expensive. Contact either the retailer you went thru or Dish directly. If you have anymore questions you can email me at a.taylor@onsitesat.com. I'm a retailer for dish network.

You said ~ “My new TV is a 23 inch LCD/HDTV ready”. “HDTV ready” indicates your new TV does not include a High Definition tuner.

You will need a separate HDTV tuner from somebody in order to get High Definition programming. Currently Dish is leasing the 622 PVR and 211 boxes. Both boxes include High Definition over-the-air tuners in addition to satellite High Definition tuners.

My guess is you will need more questions answered before ultimately viewing High Definition.

Good Luck

It really depends on your location. Call DISH network and ask them how to set up your HDTV tuner box. You will probably need to install a new satellite, but then again, it dependson your location.

You will need a dish HDTV reciever....or....a dish HDTV recorder/receiver if you would like to record a mess of shows in HDTV....If your tv has a built in HDTV tuner you can only recieve HDTV with an antennae on one of your 2 or 3 inputs.(local stations if available) ....your built in can not convert sat signal to HDTV...you can do either, or,or both with your many inputs

OOOOH YEAH!!! And on top of that, they'll charge you extra for the "HD Programming"; welcome to the modern age...and don't think going to Directv's gonna be better...both companies require that to recieve the programming in Hi-Def you will need a HD receiver, HD tv and purchase HD programming...the only place you may see a break here is if you purchase an off-air HD antenna to get your locals in HD...this works and when your satelllite goes out due to bad weather you can still get your locals...good luck
