Scenario: He's 40...I'm 36. Seeing each other for 1 1/2 years. I was separated (living apart from husband) for 1 year and now divorced for 2 months. We do EVERYTHING together (date, holidays, trips, etc). Our friendship has grown into something beautiful....but I'm missing what our "label" is to one another. When asked, he says "we're exclusive to one another" but yet won't say the actual words boyfriend/girlfriend and refers to me as "his girl" (he calls my gay sister that so I know it doesn't mean girlfriend). I'm having a problem with that. Is it wrong of me to want more definition (or label) of our relationship? Is there a time limit on when a man and woman should be considered "a couple"?

Well if you were together 6 months I could see you pondering this...but after a 1 1/2 years...I think you should know where you two are. Like a previous post said: I would be more concerned about where your headed. Some people don't like to be bothered with labels.

Yea there is a way. Just out and ask and then if he doesn't want to reply just tell him you want to know where you stand with him.. No to the time limit question its short for some people a lot longer for others but for most people its almost assumed after several months..

boyfrind/girlfriend sounds juvenile....stick with what he is telling you. the question you need to be asking him is....."where do you think this relationship is going?"
