if you have the time ( a few hours ) your best bet is to put a very hot cloth on it ( as hot as you can stand ) as often as you can. This will bring on the head, once popped the redness and swelling will go fast.

The ice will make it more red, but it might feel better if it's one of those ultra sensitive pimples.

I just learned this trick recently and it has worked really well for me. Put the essential oil of myrrh on it. It doesn't take much and if it bothers your skin, you can mix it with another oil (jojoba for example) or your moisturizer. My pimples go away in 1-3 days, depending on how quickly I catch them. I had one that I could feel, but it had not bumped up yet. I put the myrrh on and it never came up. Use it after each time you wash your face.

For a short time it will feel cold, and then it will definately reduce redness. but to make it disappear use ace cream

actually putting ice on it will draw blood to the area to warm it up and make the blemish even more red.
to reduce redness use hydrocortisone cream.
