Any experience with iPhoto and/or iTunes library sharing? I'm a little nervous about doing it...?

I got a new computer and I need to transfer my photos and music from my old computer. I've never shared the libraries, and I'm hesitant to do so because I really can't loose the stuff, but if it saves me from manually transfering every bitter song and picture, I want to do it. So, what I'm asking, is have you ever done it before, and do you have any advice?

The way mac works, is that when you move a file fom one location to another, you only move a copy of that file. The original stays where it is.

File sharing allows one computer to look at (and use) the information on another computer's HD as if it were its own. In that case, the inofmation ultimately stays put.
