As a Humanist, I want any usable organs to be donated to those whose lives can be enhanced by them. Whatever is left, I would like to have buried in a memorial garden on my property, but since the law doesn't allow this, I have instructed that my remains be cremated and the ashes spread in the garden to help the plants and flowers grow. I'd like a short and simple memorial service--just outside the garden, if the weather allows. I would like some of my favorite music to be played and some of my favorite quotes and poems read aloud. I hope that it will not be a sad affair; I'd prefer that it be a celebration of life, an opportunity for my friends and family to say good-bye.

I have organized a funeral for an atheist and the atheist was my mother. Her children, including myself, wrote the eulogy. We had a ceremony that celebrated her life and acknowledged her accomplishments. She was a talented piano player, so we found someone capable of playing her favorite music. She was cremated so there was no elaborate event with her body. People who knew her had an opportunity to speak and share what they liked about her. It was an amazing funeral that helped a great deal in dealing with the early stages of grief. Instead of planting her body, we all got together and planted a willow tree. That tree is now 25 feet tall and doing very well. This funeral did not follow any traditions but followed more what we thought showed her the most respect. I would like the same type of funeral.

When the life finally leaves my body, it will be nothing more than a lump of organic matter. I would like to be cremated and my ashes buried in a forest, with a new seedling tree planted on top of me.

I would also like the people I leave behind to celebrate my life and all I have accomplished, knowing that I lived by my own rules and was a decent, happy person.

My mum passed away 3 years ago, she was Roman Catholic, though she had lost belief in her faith. My dad was diagnosed with cancer and my mum and I spoke about what type of service we could have for him. My father never spoke of death it terrified him so we decided ourselves. My mum liked the idea of a Humanist service that spoke about the way people are all linked through nature etc, then they talk about the person in a very personal way. My mum also decided that she would like this type of service.Though tragically my dad was then told he was terminal and even more shockingly 5 days after that my mum died suddenly after a family wedding. My dad was thinking of a religious service when I told him of the Humanist service my mum wanted so we went ahead with this. I have to say it was great and even though devastated I smiled at bit's of the service the Humanist had spent many hours with us getting to know the real person, who my mum was. After that my dad decided that this was also what he wanted and tragically this is what he got 6 month's after my mum's death. All my family who are atheists have all decided to have this type of funeral when it is our time . Also I want to be cremated as my parents were buried and it's not such a sweet thing to think what's happening in those boxes

I'm donating every part of my body that I can donate. If there's anything left, I will be cremated. From there...well, the funeral is for the living. I'd appreciate if my family would acknowledge my beliefs with pride than to overlook it with their own religion.

I want to be cremated and sprinkled out past the pier in Oceanside.

Then I would hope that my family and friends had a nice party with laughter and music.

since i would be dead, i don't care what the hell goes on in my funeral. funerals are for the person's relatives to cope with the loss and to feel at ease, so if having the whole religious ceremony would comfort my loved ones, i have nothing against it.
