Yup. Buy a pair of dog nail clippers (don't use human ones, they can cause the nail to splinter and bleed). Look at the nail, and find the thick pink vein running through it. DO NOT cut that vein! Cut only the pointy tip off the end of the nail where there is no vein. If the nails are short, use a steel file and smooth down the points without cutting instead. If you're nervous, a vet or groomer can show you how the first time.

you should only cut dogs nails if they really are too long. Taking them for a regular walks on rough ground should keep their nails in trim but if this doesnt work then you should buy animal clippers from any good pet store for a few pounds. The first time you cut them ask your vet or someone who has done it before to show you how to do it properly.

As most others have said, It is better to be shown how by a professional first if youv'e never done it before! If the claws are black they need special care when clipped as you can't see the blood vessel. If you hit that the dog will bleed and it will hurt it! Dont use human nail clippers (they tend to crush the nail) buy the dog ones from a pet store! Take off as little as possible and trim every time you groom and he'll accept it better! Good luck!

You can,but you should know how far back to cut since there is a blood vein in their nails. Find someone that knows what they are doing, show you and you should be able to do it. I cut the little pointy tips off a 12 week old Boxer pup that belongs to my brother just a few weeks ago.

Yes, if they need cutting. Use a proper dog nail clippers and avoid the blood vessel which will bleed if you clip through it (and will cause pain to the dog). Make sure that the dog is used to having his/her feet handled as this will make the job easier. If you aren't sure about what you are doing, go to your local vet practice and ask one of the nurses to show you.

of course you can and it's a good idea to start cutting his nails while he is still a young puppy. That way he will get used to it a lot quicker. And if you cut them, when he walks on pavement, it will wear the ends down, keeping them short. then you wont have to trim them agian for a while.

YES. I have a 3 month Cocker Spaniel and I have trimmed his nails 3 times already. You can use small dog nail clippers or use your own fingure nail clippers. It is better to go ahead and get them use to messing with there feet while they are young. I started off clipping them when he was asleep and he never woke up while I did it... Boxer puppies are one of the custest!!

Of course. It's actually a really good thing to get him used to. Just get a pair of dog nail clippers, and have some powder alum ready just incase of a bleeder. If the nails are white clip right below where you can see the blood vessel. If they are black to the paw so you can see the pad, and clip it right where it begins to split... It's hard to explain but if you look at his paw you'll understand what I mean. If you clip it a little low it'll blood but just dip his nail in a little powder alum and the bleeding will stop. Though he will probably cry pretty loud.
