My dog has been constipated for a while, then today there was a clot of blood in her poo, what are some ways, or home remedies for her. Or I might just call the vet.

Blood in the stool is something that is the sign of many different things. Some very serious and other not so much. The only wahy to know for sure is test that your vet must do for you. Please take her to the Vet asap

If your dog's stools are always changing, she definately needs to see a vet especially if she passed a blood clot!!! If it's truly a blood clot - called a polyp - it can be an indicator of colon cancer. Not 100% because there are several causes but in any case, they need to find out. She needs blood work done to determine why her stools change, if her food isn't changing, her stools should be normal and consistant. Call the vet NOW and put the bloody stool in a plastic bag to take in for testing. Good luck!

I have a 12.5 yr old dog who has had a few medical problems recently. She had the same bowel problems - constipated, tried to go many many times without much coming out, bloody/drippy stool - we went to the vet and our dog is now taking metronidazole, which is supposed to generally cure, colitis (inflammed/thickened intestinal walls, potentially due to parasite) - anyway, our dog is much much better. no more blood, going regularly on her first try and without urgency.

you should definitely call the vet and ask about metronidazole. also, we've been feeding our dog a half teaspoon of pumpkin every meal (she's 17 lbs) - it's supposed to be a good, overall, calming substance for either diarrhea or constipation.

good luck!

Dark blood is old blood that was digested in the upper part of the digestive system. Fresh blood means there is bleeing in the lower GI tract infection, food allegeries, cancer of the lower bowel, inflamed lower bowels or anal area, or polyps. There also can be other problems. Of course, you should take your pet to the vet if any emergency in which you do not know how to react arrises. Think of getting pet insurance so that you are convered if expesive procedures, such as x-rays, are needed.

I think you you should take the dog to the vet. The dog may have an intestinal problem.
to fix the constipation, a few drops of mineral water should do.

Your best bet is to call the vet. She could have any number of different parasites or worms, not to mention 4 or 5 other rare conditions that are medical emergencies... It happened to our dalmation about 5 years ago and we came really close to losing her.

Take it to the VET. NO home remedies. Blood means bleeding somewhere.

I'd definitely take her/him to the vet. It's basically impossible to diagnose a dog over the internet!
