From 1930 to date, Marlin has made a number of .22 cal. rimfire rifles, bolt action single shots, bolt action repeaters and auto loaders. These have normally been good quality, inexpensive weapons. In 1960, the name Glenfield was also used in connection with these guns. We will list these models for reference purposes with price ranges appearing at the end of each listing.

The Ranger 103-8 was actually a Marlin Model 100 made especially for Sears, Roebuck and Co. and sold through their catalog and stores. Yes, you could buy guns mail order....before Oswald shot Kennedy with a mail-order rifle.

It had a walnut stock and was a single shot bolt action rifle that chambers a .22 Short, Long and Long Rifle (that's an LR).

Many of these were sold but I cannot find production dates or data.....early through mid 1900s likely.

This kind of rifle was typically a boy's first rifle and they were also used by many folks for squirrel, rabbit and pests (rats, snakes, coyotes).

There is nothing particularly valuable about them and collectors can find one or something like it at every pawn shop or gun show in America. you will have to wait 100 years to see in great appreciation in value.

In excellent, unfired, mint condition in the original box with original paperwork.....$150-175 tops. Used, good condition, maybe $80-90 on a good day but likely more in the $50-70 range.

If it's in good condition and the bolt and trigger seem to work OK, I suggest you buy a couple of boxes of .22 ammo at the sporting goods store and a cheap cleaning kit for a .22.
Clean it and make sure nothing is blocking the bore (barrel), then take it out and shoot some soda cans. These .22 bolts can be a lot of fun!

i think it was made by Marlin for Sears and Roebuck. Sears used to sub out to manufacturers to make firearms and label them under their sporting good company names...i would imagine less than 200 bucks cannot help you will the date but Marlin website may have some info. I have a marlin bolt 22 and it would probably be the same gun i would be surprised if it is worth 100 bucks but it shoots like a million bucks. i would think between 1950 and 1965 is the mfg dates. have fun be safe
