I've been under alot of stress lately. Money problems, guy problems, new job a bunch of stuff. I've been pretty bummed out for awhile, but lately...I'm starting to feel like I'm on the verge of a panic attack. I've never had one, but several times today...I felt like I couldn't breathe. I didn't know if I just couldn't catch my breath or if I forgot to breathe or what...its freaking me out though!! Has this ever happened to anyone else?? How do I make it stop??

It's called anxiety. You need to see your doctor and talk to her or him about it. Until then, there are quite a few things you can do to help.

When you feel it coming on, notice what you are thinking about just before. Talk yourself out of the panic. Let yourself remember that it is only panic and not real, just scary. A nice cool shower works wonders to stop the attack, as does putting on some of your favorite music that you like to sing along to.

I know that medication may not be the answer for everyone and there are other remedies out there: yoga, tai chi (which has all but eliminated my anxiety), meditation, exercise, reading, etc. But sometimes, medecine can help you start to take your life back.

Be good to yourself. Your imagination is the fastest way to borrow trouble and anxiety.... And remember, you need to take care of you because the way you take care of yourself is the instruction manual you give to others to take care of you...

All the best.. take care and God bless..

That sounds like a panic attack. I'd stop what you are doing until you get your breath back and tell yourself that everything is going to be okay.
I try to think of a place where I've been happy lately or focus on a color, whatever you need to do to not think. If you are not breathing, your brain is not getting any oxygen and you can't think straight anyways. So no point in trying to "think" your way out of it.
Then get some exercise the first chance you get. That forces you to breath deeply.

Sounds like anxiety. And you don't want anxiety to lead you into having panic attacks. So learn to do some deep breathing exercises and think of something that calms you down (your little dog etc. etc.) when you start feeling that way. You wouldn't believe how many people get anxiety, but it sounds like you are aware of it and plan to deal with it. You can handle it! Deep breathing's your ticket! Take them slow and keep going until you feel relieved. Many old people wind up at the emergency room because they mistake anxiety and panic attacks for a heart attack, but it's not that strong. You'll be fine, especially when all that stress lets up on you! Keep breathing deep, Honey, you sound like you're going to be fine!

practice yoga and
dancemeditation.
to get control of yourself.
develop a breathing practice
(through yoga or try anna coy's program)
this is all about meditation.
which is the key to reducing stress.
yoga is the easiest way to meditate.
get into your body which will ground you from
the anxiety and panic responses.
just focus on your breath in your nostrils,
then feel it in your lungs, etc.
follow your breathing when you feel at risk of stress.

Had it happen. You need to stop and learn to meditate. A few minutes can calm your whole body and give you a new outlook on life.
