Gymnist are usually slender, arent they? YOu need to drink alot of water and get you matabolism going! Heres how:
THIS WORKS FOR SURE
this may seem nasty but it works!!!!!!!!!!!! trust me.
1. Drink 1-2 tblespoons of APPLE CIDER VINEGAR!(twice daily) this kind of vinegar helps your body burn fat! look it up. (its all over the web)
2. Drink Green Tea. Perferably in the Morning and Evening. This also burns fat by increasing your matabalism. look it up (its all over the web)
3. For breakfast eat = half a grapefruit! grapefruit is great for you and it takes more energy to digest than most fruits. Guess what that means? your body burns more fat!
4. If your really serious take a small amount of water and mix 1/2 teaspoon of CAYENNE Pepper (or more) and swallow that really fast. Chilli Pepper works too. Its not that hot and if you swallow it fast only the back of your throat will burn a little. These peppers make your matabolism go really fast NATURALLY!

do 1 of set in the morning of each (after eating your grapefruit and tea) do 3 sets of each, every night! (or more)
6. Walking will help ALOT! walk to your friends house, to the park, around the corner, take your dog on a walk, walk around your house a couple of times, SOMETHING!
7. While watching your favorite tv show do jumping jacks. Youll be so into the show you wont even realize your doing jacks! Take a break during 2 or 3 commercials. Before you start Drink a BIG cup of water. After you finish drink 2 big cups of water in 30 mins.
8. Drink at least half a gallon of water a day.
9. Eat less. Eat healthy. NO SUGAR. (or very very littile of it)
10. Dont weigh yourself. You will have alot of water weight so the scale might not be accurate. Just pinch the fat on your stomach. Notice how much you pinch. Pinch your fat everynight. after a coule of weeks notice how you will start to pinch less and less!

put in simple ways: you have muscles and that's what makes them classify you as "overweight". Most bodybuilders would be classified as such because the Body Mass Index does NOT tell the composition of your body but just the weight. So, a fitness model who is 5' 7'' tall and 118 lbs looks great while a fashion model who is 5' 7'' and 95 lbs looks anorexic. Muscles weight more than the same amount of fat.
If I were you I wouldn't worry... After training, I went from 113 lbs and a size 4 to 119 lbs and a size 0. How you look is what counts... if you really want to be sure do a body composition analysis and relax :)

One question: what does your doctor say?
Too often people take the height/weight thing from some "average" source which doesn't consider body type/ build. You're right: muscle does weigh more than fat! (Get your body mass index -- BMI -- checked too. That's supposed to be an even better indicator of whether or not you're risking being overweight.)
Tell your school to take a hike. And IGNORE the number.

Don't worry about it. Its all in how you feel. If you feel great, I promise you will look great. You say you used to be a gymnast, the one thing you do need to be careful about is that muscle can turn to fat. But if you still have muscle, and muscle is much more dense than fat, 140 is not going to be too bad. If you look good in a bikini, wear one and let everyone see how good you look!

Well, I think the best thing for you to do in this instance is have your body fat percentage checked. Height/weight charts don't take into account muscle mass or frame size, so it's possible that you are not overweight at all if you really are as athletic as you say. There is certainly no point losing weight if your body fat percentage is healthy, so ask your doctor about having your body fat percentage tested. HTH : )

muscle does weigh more than fat and If you STILL stay in shape and are firm you are probably Ok, but 140 is a bit more weight than normal for you very petitie height. I'm sure that is what they are saying or thinking about.
My daughter is 5"7" and solid as a rock FIRM, low body fat and all and weighs 143, borders on slim
Her sister is 5'3" and 118 but softer and looks nice too, but at 125 + she starts looking chunky for sure.
It's about your BFI (Body fat index) and less about weight.

Trust me BMI is a bunch of BS! I am 5'1 also and at 140 lbs I was told by my doctor that I was severly obese and at a huge risk. Now I am 168 lbs and people still say I look like I am like 120 lbs. But of course body type plays a large roll in that. If you are a shapely woman, then no matter how slim you are, butt and breasts are there to stay!

Of course everybody's body is different. If you have muscle, then you will weigh more, no matter what the dumb chart says. I wouldn't go by that at all. Go by how you feel, how you look and how your clothes fell on you. If you have a bikini able body, then good for you! I'm sick and tired of people that think females should be as skinny as a toothpick.....thats disgusting in my eyes! I like more of an athletic body myself! So, you go girl! Ignore them!

Katie those charts are just averages, so they do not work for all people.
I too am on the verge of "being obese", and at 5'1" and 135, I'm not. I have a ton of muscle and so look bulkier and weigh more than most females my height.
Ignore them, if you exercise, eat relatively well and do not have "fat" hanging on you, you are fine.

well school charts say what your going to weight in 5 years or so! like if you weight 140 now they think your going to keep gaining wait untill your huge but thats not your case mussle weighs more than fat and you play sports so you probably are going to stay the same size unless you start on a really bad diet(junk food) and then stop exorcising so don't worry about it!
