Because we are approaching the end of this age, and prophecies in the Holy Bible are being fulfilled, which say that men will become lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God (II Timothy 3:4).

"The falling away" is taking place in the church, and once more the light is being seperated from the darkness. The western culture that once had a great Christian heritage now seems to be growing darker and colder. Our society is rejecting Christ and God and is falling into moral decay. You can't help but see it everywhere you look anymore. There is a seething hatred for things that are holy and good, and a growing love for the things that are wicked and evil. I see it all day long in this forum, how people are proud, knowing nothing, boasting against the truth of God's word, and who are not afraid to speak blaspemies against the name of Jesus Christ.

Sexual promiscuity, the destruction of the family, replacement of morality with homosexual ideals - these are all signs that the end is very near for our country. But who will wake up and smell the coffee? Better yet, who will do something about it? Who will repent? Who will pray? Who will preach against it?

Or should we? Because all these things must be fulfilled, until the end comes.

Back then church was more than just being preached at and showing off your new clothes. It was how people met people in their community, to size them up, to inspect the sons and daughters of other families as suitable marriage prospects for their own children, and to demonstrate (for social brownie points) what goody goody charitable people they were.

Today, people don't care (and often don't know) who else is in the neighborhood. The church usually isn't in the neighborhood, either... you have to get in the car and drive to it because it's either too far to walk, or there are mean street gangs who will attack you on the way, etc.

Today, parents don't take much of a hand in scanning the marriage market for their children. They just raise them to college age, then pack them off, and figure that they're finished with them.

Today, people figure that they're being charitable by talking about how the government should spend tax money on "social programs." Which is a dishonest way of looking good at the expense of other people.

Also, the mass media have mocked and ridiculed Christian beliefs to the point where Jesus just isn't cool anymore. It still a cool thing to say, but not a cool thing to act like you mean it. Today, if you say that you believe something that doesn't advance yourself, personally, other people think you're a ridiculous fool who should be laughed at.

i know there are still alot who go to church just there are a lot more churches so a church looks like it does not have as many people any more. i am sure if you look back to when you were a girl your city might have only had 2 churches and now that city probally has 20 churches. also alot of churches preach that all you have to do is say Jesus is the son of God and believe that and you are saved. so why go to church then. i mean you are saved right. i believe faith without works is dead and we must be obediant to Gods word and that one work is going to church. along with telling everyone about Jesus. and other things like pray daily and read our Bible but a lot dont do those either. and a lot of people thing that they are saved just by being good. i think there still a lot of people who believe God created the earth just not as much in the Bible anymore. and look at the cool worldy things out there now. ps3 xbox360 that people get involved in.

That's a pretty subjective observation.

Consider:

1. You might have gone to one of the few churches in town.

2. Your family may have attended the busier service.

3. You might have been a member of the church just before the new and roomier building was proposed.

4. You might have sat up in the front where it seemed more crowded.

5. Your church may have been designed solely for your worship service, while newer churches are designed to cater to Large events like weddings and funerals.

I've gone to church scince I was born, and now 60 years later I don't really feel like going anymore. Church has changed drastically since I was young and personally I don't think people are getting their needs met anymore at church. The contemporary church has sought to be more entertainers than teachers of the Word of God. There is a difference between enjoying yourself and learning life values and skills. The church has tried to emulate Hollywood thinking that "tickling people's ears" will draw in the crowds just like the movies do, but people have needs in their lives, serious needs, and they don't want to be entertained, they want to get answers to life's questions. There used to be a whole variety of activities at church geared to teaching, training, and giving you a view of needs and griwth. Today the young people want to sing for half an hour and then have a devotional like talk given, and then get out of there. It is really superficial. I share yoour concern.

I think back when you were growing up, it was just the standard that you went to church whether you wanted to or not. It was a social norm. Now, not so much. People are getting brains and realizing that a lot of churches are full of hypocrites and ridiculous rules that Jesus couldn't have cared less about. Following Jesus is good. Lots of churches, however, just believe in religion and that's bad.

Perhaps people do not view the church as being as relevant as they once did. It may be that there were fewer churches in your neighborhood in the past and the faithful are just spread out now with the advent of a church on every corner.

My church is growing happy members and I am happy every time when people come forward when is the calling song. My church is packed all the time and we need to add more services to accommodate all the people who want to worship God.

I was not too much a church goer while growing up. Now I do not want to miss any services. Worship is for God. If I get something out of it GREAT, but worship is really for God.

I think because Church has gotten so political. I believe if we put our faith in Man, we will always be disappointed. thats what happens, people go to church and start looking at people thinking they are perfect and then before you know it they let you down, you get hurt and don't go back. Again keep your eyes on God and don't let the people around you persuade you either way. Pray for the ones that have fallen.

Sadly, people pay more attention to exciting life than going to church. There are many schools do not follow assembly where before children sang hymns and prayers. Many of us complain other faith followers are taking over the countries. Who stopping Christan's? In the name of Christmas we pay more attention to buying presents and arranging parties and getting drunk. Rest of year we just condemn other faith. Where do we have time to go to church? I must say rain or shine some other religious followers do keep up their faith. We all must believe this is a Christian country and who ever want to stay must respect Christianity first. Just like many other countries who follows their own faith with full respect.

Because going to church is, apparently, a stupid and childish act nowadays. If you live outside of The Bible Belt of the US, going to church is interpretted as a nonverbal communication to the world that you have no idea how to think for yourself, and that you need some magical guy in the clouds who doesn't even exist to give you false hope.

Sad, really. Believing in a higher power is a basic element of our humanity, yet it's now being attacked because actively believing in God is politically incorrect, but following Jehova, Yahweh, Allah or Buddha is perfectly alright.
