Hi, I have the opportunity to go and visit Israel with a group in May. We hope to stay about two weeks. I am going with some friends who will stay an additional two weeks on an archeological dig around the ancient site of Bethsaida.
I have never been to Israel so this will be my first trip. I am a retired high school teacher (Social Studies) and am 61 years old. I am really looking forward to this trip although I don't really know what to expect in terms of climate, social behavior, as well as safety factors.
I would be glad to exchange information with you as you might be very helpful in my getting the most out of the trip.
Respond if you would like to chat. Thank you in advance.

I am an American (22yo) and have been living in Israel for 5 months. What exactly is your question?
I will comment though, as one person above did, that most of the impressions that you might gather from the news about Israel is crap. it's a very interesting, diverse, and Westernized country. i'd go so far as to say that it's the most Americanized, non-English country, for better or worse, outside of the US (most people hear speak very good English, though).

Israel is a great country... but then again ALL countries are beautiful, it's the people and the mentality that place a country on the "love it" or "hate it" list.
There are lots of myths about Israel, however when you DO travel to Israel, you'll know that nearly 99.5% of the myths are total crap, coming from people who have NEVER been to Israel.
Hope you enjoyed here stay there... I did.
Peace out,
LFI.

Palestinians And Israelis are not killing each other All the time.
I was in Jerusalem on a trip on Sunday.
I live with Israeli Arabs (Palestinians) Here in Jaffa. Like in Haifa and many mixed cities. Hope we get on track to Peace Soon.

Yes, I lived there a few years ago. But I call it Palestine; I lived with Palestinians and learned what the Western media has kept hidden from us. What do you want to talk about? Seeing Israelis kill Palestinians, and shoot them from their giant tanks? Learning about the lies our government has told us? Or something else? Be more specific in your next question and we can talk with "understanding minds" about anything you want. Hope you're ok...?
PS I have an American passport and was born in the US if that's what you meant, and lived there for 11 years (most of my life).
