I just got my separators today and in a week I get my braces.... the people at the orthodontist said that a few weeks after I get my braces they have to pull my tooth! I am not eager for that to come around. People have been through things like this and I want to know how bad tooth pullings hurt and how I can help the feel better.

Hi -- it doesnt hurt at all if you have been given the proper amount of anaesthetic. Although you will feel pressure in your mouth because they have to get leverage to pull at it and get it out. Also you might hear some cracking -- but it's all normal. Don't be scared!

Probably a 2. I just got 4 pulled about 6 weeks ago, and got my braces 2 weeks ago. All you feel is pressure from the tooth being pulled, and hear the noise. Its really not all that bad. If you want to know the whole procedure, you can email me and I'd be happy to tell you =]

It depends on if you are awake during it or not. I was asleep when I had 2 teeth out for braces and I'd say it was about a 4 or a 5. Awake, maybe a 7 because you would be more anxious. They would numb you anyway so you wouldn't feel any pain, just nervous wondering about wha they are doing. If you can be asleep, I'd go that route. You start counting backwards from 10 and by the time you get to 6 your out and the next thing you know you are waking up in another room and it's all overwith.

It varies for each patient. I had all 4 wisdom teeth pulled about 10 yrs ago. The dentist used a local anaesthetic and a really pretty assistant to distract me, and it went quite quickly.
For pain afterwards they gave me some powerful painkillers (Vicodin or such). I never took any, and was fine a few hours later. It was sore, but not really painful. I took the rest of the day off work, but didn't really need to.
Then again, we all have a different threshold for pain, based on experience, that has little to do with how 'tough' we are.

On a scale of 1-10? Maybe a 3. Very routine, brief and relatively pain free procedure. Getting the novacaine shot was the most uncomfortable, but that only lasts a second.

around 2 or 3, its not that bad, believe me i had like 6 or 7 of my baby tooth pulled out by a dentist.

If the dentist is good it wouldn't hurt.
You will basically feel pressure, because they will numb your teeth so you don't feel pain.
It actually depends on how much they numb your teeth, sometimes it will hurt a little and little pressure but most of the time you won't feel much pain or won't feel pain at all.

Think about the results of your perfect teeth, it would be a reward in the end.

About a three. I just had a complete tear down of a hip fusion and then a complete hip replacement. I was in horrible pain for about 2 weeks. I still take lots of painkillers just to deal with the pain. They will numb your mouth and your teeth will be fine before you know it. The Dr. will give you some painkillers too. Don't worry, you'll be fine.
