Why do people think that hell is some fiery place of torment where unrepentant sinners go when they die. The Bible teaches that the dead are conscious of nothing. It refers to the common grave of dead mankind when the Bible speaks of Hell, Hades, Sheol...so, yes, there is much confusion because so many have the wrong assumptions.

Ecclesiastes 9: 5a: " For the living are conscious that they will die; but as for the dead, they are conscious of nothing at all,
Eccl. 3:19-20: "For there is an eventuality as respects the sons of mankind and an eventuality as respects the beast, and they have the same eventuality. As the one dies, so the other dies; and they all have but one spirit, so that there is no superiority of the man over the beast, for everything is vanity. 20 All are going to one place. They have all come to be from the dust, and they are all returning to the dust.

Good question. It does seem like many are confused on this matter. All it takes is a few scriptures to get the real meaning of "hell."

Ezekiel 18:4 states: "The soul that is sinning-it itself will die." Also Psalms 146:4 "His spirit goes out, he goes back to his ground; In that day his thoughts do perish." Ecclesiastes 9:5 says: (in part) "...But as for the dead, they are conscious of nothing at all." The latter part of Genesis 3:19: "For dust you are and to dust you will return."

The life we enjoy is like the flame of a candle. When the flame is put out, it does not go anywhere. It is simply gone.

Hell was a concept thought up by some of the writers of the bible to frighten people into joining the early christian church. More people - more money. Nothing has changed!!! It is still being used to frighten, cajole and to prey on the emotions of weak people. We create our own heaven or hell right here on earth and when it's over, it's over.

Let's review. In Persian society Hell is frozen. China has over 1,000 Hells and we don't even want to get into Aborigine Hells. The Bible is just one religion and there have been others since time immemorial. Who, other than God can say which religion is the real, right religion to believe in. You believe in one religion others people believe in their religions. It is not up to men or women to judge how others believe only God.

You nuts have to start adding a little more detail into your questions. I didn't know there was any confusion about the Bible on hell, and even if there was, I don't see the relevance. Would you mind explaining?

human beings will proceed to have faith lies like this because of the fact "devil has blinded the minds of the unbelievers". If human beings desire to proceed denying the reality, this is their prerogative. yet, they gained't be allowed via God to proceed to declare that it somewhat is a Bible coaching. whilst human beings are judged via Jesus as to their wickedness, their 'torture' would be in understanding that they made a determination, after understanding the information, to no longer worship Jehovah the way He demands!

There is no confusion. If a person does not accept Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior, they will go to hell. Hell is eternal conscious punishment.

fire from heaven comes 1000 years after christ's return. Christ and the saints won't be on Earth, but in the New Jerusalem, which descends to Earth.

Because the bible it self was written of and by a combination of ideas and different people with different contributions. each perspective stands out to different people and each is more sensible to each people in respect of their way of thinking.

Probably because hell was not mentioned once in the bible.

Because there have been people who have taught or preached upon their own ideas of what Hell is.
