Money can`t buy you true happiness.
Money can`t buy you true friends.

Rich people and poor people alike spend their lives trying to keep themselves from knowing themselves by filling their "voids" (as you say) with material possesions or sex or food. Their misery comes from the inside, not the outside, and no matter how much happiness or entertainment or nice things are around you, they can't replace the misery inside. They can only cover it up temporarily, and then when it fades, people search to find a new thing to fill that hole.

The next question becomes what can change the inside if not money, material things, drugs (alcohol, pot, perscription drugs), sex, etc? The answer lies in people either finding God, or through meditation (focusing on breathing works the best), one can find an inner peace that you could go your whole life without experiencing.

Have you ever asked yourself if your friends liked you for you, or because your popular? Have you ever wondered how you can treat loneliness without going against what you believe. People who are rich, esp celebrities, can't find real friends who will appreciate them or respect them for who they are. When women or men meet someone who is rich, the main interest in mind is the money and not them as a person. Yeah, wealthy people may be able to purchase any material posession that they want most. But, they can't buy friendship, they can't buy respect, they can't buy love. Materials only do so much. In the end, the shopping spree still left them a lonely night alone in their huge bed and huge house.

Of course a rich person can be miserable, money isnt the key to happiness all it does is make the financial part of life easier. I own about everything I want but none of it could ever make me happy because material things arent as important to me as love and affection from others. I'd actually rather have something made for me by somebody in my family than to have something bought for me because it makes it more valuable to me. Money cant bring happiness, its not something that satisfies the important needs of people such as love. All i can say about it is..id give up everything i have if i had to for love.

Most rich people are quite happy and satisfied with their lives because many of them see their money as an opportunity to help others (witness Warren Buffet and the Bill & Melinda Gates foundation).

The funny thing is, the people who EARN their fortune tend to understand its true value -- helping others, while those who have a fortune dropped in their lap (inheritance or social contracts) usually have no clue.

Money never touches the heart in a way the heart needs to be fed and nourished. The stronger the belief in that money does bring happiness and peace, the more the inner confusion and turmoil reign. This condition leads to despair and misery every time.

If all a rich person has is money wouldn't it be kind of boring after a while. I would think it would be a very miserable life.

The same way a person who is not blind can be miserable. Or a child who is not an orphan.

Some people will find a way to be miserable no matter what their circumstances.
