This depends on your friends taste for crab legs. My friends could eat about 5 pounds each. But being realistic each pound of king crab legs should render about 8 to 10 ounces of meat after being shelled. If you are serving them with other food, 8 to 10 ounces of shelled crab meat per person should be fine. Also have someone serve them to your guests so everyone gets a fair portion... Bon Appette

One pound is not enough the shells weigh a ton. I order at least 1 1/2 pounds when I order them out. 1.5 pounds per for a main course. Either that or your look like a cheap screw.
