I am so sorry that everyone in here seems to want to beat you up. Some people seem to forget that every breeder started somewhere. By asking questions and getting intellegent answers, you are more likely to do what is best for your dog.
First, is your dog AKC registered? If not, stop now and do not breed your dog. Even if he is registered through a different registry, he is probably not "good" breeding material.
Next, you must know the pedigree of your dog. If it does not have any champions in it, your pup is probably not worth breeding. Stop right there and do not breed your dog.
Third, check to verify if your dog falls within breed standard set by the AKC. Go to AKC.org and check out your breed. If your dog is in any way out of standard, do not breed him.
Then, if the dog does have champions in his line, and falls within standards, take your dog into the vet and have him tested for any genetic issues that may cause him to be unfit to breed. If your vet is qualified, have the dog temperment tested also. Temperment is one of the most important attributes in a dog. If he fails any of these tests, do not breed him.
Finally, post a listing at your vet's office offering your dog for stud, with payment as "pick of the litter." However, once you have done all this work for your dog, make sure that the potential mate has the same background work done on her.
Now for my lecture....Not all dogs should be breed. Breeding takes time, energy, and a lot of money. There are so many dogs in shelters or puppy mills now, that should never have been born or breed. Please think long and hard about the quality of puppy that your dog may produce. If you really want another dog, it might be better for you to purchase one from a reputable breed, instead of trying to have your dog father one.
Kathy
p.s. If your male does father a female puppy that you get to keep, one of the dogs would have to be fixed because you can't allow a father to impregnate his daughter.

If someone has a good female Yorkshire terrier they can choose the services of numerous, proven, health tested, champion, male Yorkshire terriers for the price of a puppy or often less than half that.
Why would they want to use your dog?

Will you people give it up??? Just because you HAVE a dog doesn't mean you need to breed it! You don't have any idea whether your dog is even a good genetic representative of it's breed, you probably haven't done any of the health screenings RESPONSIBLE breeders do for their dogs, you don't know what you're looking for in a female if all you care about is getting a puppy (by the way, Yorkies only have 1-3 puppies per litter, so fat chance on getting dibs on a female just for stud services), and if you had any idea about the breed or it's standards at all, you'd know all the people you needed to find a female dog on your own. So clearly, you are clueless and should neuter your poor dog and get over it. Dogs are dying every day, and people like you think we need more of them to die.

There are thousands of shelter animals, many of them purebred, that need homes. If you breed your dog and the female has 6 puppies, there will be 6 shelter dogs that will lose out on homes.
Check on www.petfinder.com. There is a great chance that you will be able to find a yorkie puppy. There are also breed groups/forums online that you can probably find one at. I am sure there is a Yorkie puppy that is waiting for a good home.

This is not the place to look for a stud dog. Put an ad in the classifieds in your local paper like all the other byb do.

ok here is my opion on your question and i will try to answer your question by asking you some questions, is your dog a champion show dog that has won titles? have you had all his tests done that need to be done to prove that he is breed quality? so if you cant answer these questions with a yes then you shouldnt be breeding,, also of you could say yes to any of these questions then you wouldnt be on here asking on this cause you would have people at dog shows asking you if they could breed your male with their females,,, so please have your poor dog fixed and let him be a dog,,,

Get your dog neutered! Your dog has had genetic tests right? Your dog represent the breed standard? Your dog has titled in conformation?
Test for your dog as to whether you should breed
