You should definitely bring your camera in your carry on luggage or purse, not your checked luggage. The TSA actually suggests that you carry items like that with you. Your checked luggage can get tossed around quite a bit, as well as have lots of other baggage piled on top of it. You would not want your camera to get broken.

Have a safe trip!

I would definitely recommend carrying it on the plane with you. If it won't fit in your purse, do you have another small carry-on bag you could put it in? Your purse doesn't usually count as your carry-on bag, so you could take another small bag besides your purse and carry it on the plane with you.

I would not want to put it checked luggage because you never know what is going to happen to it. Our luggage has often been "inspected" and things have been shifted and moved around. Also, there is the possibility of your checked luggage accidentally getting "lost" or going to a different destination (this has never happened to me, but I know it happens!)

Good luck!

Carry on or purse...luggage occasionally is misdirected. We had to wait over an hour at the Atlanta airport for our luggage from the Cancun airport to be found. I was furious!

Avoid the fury...take it with you on board the plane. There are some great shots on-board the plane and out the window, too!

Carry on luggage because when they put the checked bags on the flight, they tend to shift during the flight and might get broken. or the people that handle the luggage do not treat it gentaly and the throw things areound alot. if they send you luggage on a diffrent flight, you might not see it for a while.
so, i would keep it in your purse.

purse if you don't want anything to happen to it. it would probably be in fine working condition even if it's in your checked bag... but have you ever examined the items in your luggage after it's been handled? (things like chocolate bars or paper boxes usually come out broken or crushed, suggesting the bag was put through a lot.)

I would take it with me as carry on. It could get crushed in your luggage. Make sure the batteries are ok because you will probably be required to turn it on.

Took mine in its own case and carried it right with me thru the airport right onto the plane. Didn't have any troubles. Then you have it right with you all the time. You might want to snap a picture out the plane window as you take off or land or a pretty sunset on top of the clouds...

Have fun!!!

Put it in a camera case, store it in your luggage, wrapped around soft clothes.

I would suggest carrying it with you too, though I did put my camera in my suitcase when I flew from Cleveland to Florida, and it was fine. But I was worried about it the whole time!

GENERAL RULE - Do not put anything in your checked luggage you do not want to lose (cameras, jewelry, money, etc).
