Socrates
Diogenes
Hippo
Guiliiano Vanni
Thomas Aienkin
All charged tried and condemned for atheism. All refused to recant and were executed. There are more......shall I continue?
To tchambers below me Martyr simply means one who dies rather then denounce their beliefs.
Atheism means belief that God does not exist.
Therefore yes there can be atheist martyrs.

That's not nice, noestoli. My name is Katie so now you know the name of an intelligent Christian.
I believe that Christians did kill quite a few people during the Crusades? All those people are probably martyrs for not believing in Christianity I would think...

Atheists haven't really been organized for very long. But since people were burnt at the stake for simply not believing the little cracker the priest gives you is actually, really turned into Christ's flesh, I'm guessing there are tons of Atheist/Agnostic martyrs.

No. enable me clarify. Morals are the end results of the actual subculture & society that created them. The Aztecs held ritual sacrifices the place the sacrifice had his heart torn out of his chest. This sounds merciless & grotesque to us, yet to them it replaced right into a severe honor to be sacrificed to the gods. Likewise, ecu Medieval instances avoided something yet Catholicism as an evidence to the universe. subsequently the abode arrest of Galileo. yet right now there is not something seen morally incorrect with not believing (to a pair). no you will have faith an atheist is ignoring any absolute ethical with regards to faith. of course, the atheist do not sense torn between the good of religion & the evil of atheism. they look at it purely approximately oppositely. hence, morals are all based upon attitude. They upward thrust up from a psychological would desire to justify ourselves.

Do you count those who questioned religion during the Inquisition or Crusades. You know, those people with beliefs that went against "Christianity", like saying the earth is round, that it doesn't revolve around the Sun.
do those count??

More than 2,000 years ago, the first atheist martyr, Socrates, declared "The only good is knowledge and the only evil is ignorance."

I'm honestly not sure... I'd also like to know. I'm pretty sure Thomas Paine committed social suicide by writing "Age of Reason"... does that count?
